G. & J.L. Edwards
Tyres & Puncture Repairs
New tyres, puncture repairs and tyre checks for cars and vans.
Your tyres are the only part of your car that touches the road, so they matter more than most people think. At G. & J.L. Edwards we fit new tyres, repair punctures where it is safe to do so and check tread, pressure and condition so you can drive with confidence.
If a tyre can be repaired, we will repair it. If it cannot — because of where the damage is, how big it is or the state of the tyre — we will tell you straight and explain why, rather than sending you away with a repair that is not safe.

FAQs
Tyres FAQs
What is the legal minimum tyre tread depth?
For cars in the UK it is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread, around the whole circumference of the tyre. Many drivers choose to replace tyres before they reach that point, as grip in the wet drops off as the tread wears down. We are happy to check yours.
Can every puncture be repaired?
No. Whether a puncture can be safely repaired depends on where it is, how large it is and the overall condition of the tyre. Damage to the sidewall or shoulder usually means the tyre needs replacing. We will look at it and tell you honestly which it is.
How do I know if I need new tyres?
The main signs are tread close to the legal limit, cuts, bulges or cracking in the sidewall, uneven wear, or a tyre that keeps losing pressure. If you are not sure, bring the car in and we will take a look.
Do you check tyres during an MOT or service?
Yes. Tyres are checked as part of both the MOT and a service with us, and we will let you know if anything needs attention before it becomes a problem.
